The Tell MDOT door hanger or notice you received to Tell MDOT about the I-270 / I-495 P3 project included 6 factual claims. Here are their citations. DEIS stands for Draft Environmental Impact Statement, a document of more than 18,000 pages! There are many other tragic items in the DEIS as you will find elsewhere on this website. But for the door hanger, that was all we could fit in!

1. Worsen rush hour on I-270 North

  • Page 124 of Appendix C of the DEIS (https://495-270-p3.com/deis/#DEIS) states that traffic on I-270 north during the pm rush hour will be worse under the screened alternatives compared with the no-build option

  • Consequences of Construction: this is section 4.23 of the DEIS (https://495-270-p3.com/deis/#DEIS) and is quite thorough -- Chapter 4, pages 157-161; also Chapter 2, page 39. There is discussion about: traffic congestion associated with construction maintenance of traffic, impacts to business and residential access, utility disruptions, vibrations, sediment erosion and stormwater management, and construction related noise and visual impacts, among others. 

  • From page 157 of Chapter 4 of the DEIS. "It is anticipated that construction of any phase will last approximately four to five years.
