Senator King: Support Smart Transportation Solutions!
As a concerned resident/constituent of District 39, I am signing my name on this petition and joining my voice with the majority of other Montgomery and Prince George’s County voters who oppose Governor Hogan’s proposal to add up to four high-priced toll lanes to I-270 and I-495. This $11 billion plan threatens taxpayers, communities, and the environment, but it won’t fix long-standing congestion problems. In fact, studies show that building more lanes actually attracts more traffic in the long-run. Instead, we should invest the public’s money in real and long-lasting transportation solutions, including public transit options.
We request Senator Nancy King work with the state legislators and leaders to require that project finances are transparent and sound, that taxpayers are protected from risk, and that the solutions are truly effective for reducing congestion.
